A low quality picture of a high quality experience

What is better than a weekend of food and friendship? A couple of weekends ago, my friend and I decided to get together after a whole year of not seeing each other!  She goes to school in Tampa (where I used to go) and I go to school in Miami, so we decided to meet in the middle at Fort Myers beach!  She had just finished her finals and I was about to begin mine so it was a much needed break for both of us.

Estero Island (Fort Myers Beach) has been a vacation destination for my family since I was little.  We used to go there on vacation when we lived in Pennsylvania and now we go there for stay-cations.  There are a few restaurants that we always are sure to stop by (The Beached Whale and The Junkanoo), but we always try new little places, as well.

The new place that we tried that was so delicious was called Mom’s.  Their cinnamon rolls, breakfast sandwiches, and home fries were to die for.  I have honestly been considering taking the two hour drive just for breakfast.  It was just soooo good.

This trip has reminded me that I need to take more time to breakaway from my normal schedule and just enjoy being young.  In a few years when I have real commitments (like having a job and a house and being the sole-provider/caretaker for my cat), this will be much harder to do.  I am grateful that I am in the position to have these experiences now!

How does everybody else feel? Would you rather save up for a grand vacation or take a few little stay-cations?  Do you prefer week long endeavours or weekend getaways? Let me know in the comments below!
