Meet the dog of many names! When we adopted Foxy, our lovely little Chihuahua-Pomeranian, as a puppy 8 years ago (oh my goodness, she’s old), her name was Foxy Lady. About 6 years ago, one of my sister’s friends said something along the lines of “Waxy! What a cute name for a dog!” and we began to call her Waxy. Over the years, Waxy evolved into Wax and that kind of stuck. She answers to pretty much anything.
How Wax became ours is kind of a funny story. I was 11 years old when we got her. She belonged to my friend’s sister who just did not have the means to take care of her any more. I had been planning a benefit walk for an animal shelter so my mom agreed to let her go to the walk with us to see if she could find a home and guess what! She found a home…with us! Her owner was asking $100 for her so my siblings and I gathered up all of our money which totaled about $30 (all in change). My parents agreed to pay the difference and allow us to adopt the dog!
Today, Wax is an old lady now and spends her time either sleeping under my bed or lounging in the pool (she hops onto the first step to cool off because it is the perfect depth for her!) She is an icon among our friends.
Awwww, she’s so cute! I have a mixed Pomeranian, he’s 2 years old and his name is Mr. Brown.
