Cruisin’ The Caribbean

I have been out of the country for two of the past three weeks and I can not think of better way to have spent that time.  I absolutely love the Caribbean with all of my heart. It is a region full of many beautiful cultures and languages, but all of the islands have that special “island life” touch to them.  I hope to retire (or live part of my young adult life…or both) somewhere in the Caribbean.

Two weeks ago, I spent eight days in the Dominican Republic.  I spent this past week on a cruise, stopping in Jamaica, Grand Cayman, and Mexico.  Although these trips were very different in nature, I absolutely enjoyed each of them.

Our first stop was Ocho Rios, Jamaica.  We took a party boat to climb Dunn’s River Falls. Climbing the waterfall was unlike anything that I had ever done before.  It was so much fun and so beautiful.  I only fell once, which was about 999 times less than I expected. The views were so beautiful.  The weather was perfect.  The party boat certainly lived up to the party expectation.  They served us unlimited Rum & Cokes and Rum Punches.  We also enjoyed waayyy too many Red Stripes.

The second stop was Grand Cayman.  We chartered a boat to take us to Stingray City and to go snorkeling.  This was definitely my favorite stop.  Our boat broke down at the coral reef and we nearly missed the cruise ship, but another boat came to our rescue and it ended well.

Our final stop was Cozumel, Mexico where we went to Mr. Sancho’s all inclusive beach. We rode jetskis and ate tacos and relaxed in hammocks and had fruity drinks in the pool. It was another perfect day.

The entire cruise was a blast, from on board events with our hilarious cruise director to the stops in three little paradises.  I tried new things and traveled to places I have never been with my best friend/boyfriend, and it was pretty amazing.  My skin is also ten shades darker, so that is a plus.
